Bedrijfsinfo
In 1932, the Belgian baker Jan Boone created a caramelized cookie from only natural ingredients. He named it Lotus after the flower that symbolizes purity. In the 1950s, baker Boone began individually wrapping his Speculoos cookies. He introduced them in catering establishments as a 'cookie with coffee'. The concept was a huge success. Because coffee and Lotus Speculoos complement each other. They boost each other's flavor and form the perfect duo. The popularity of Lotus Speculoos increased enormously over the years and across borders. From a caffè latte to an espresso to go: coffee drinkers worldwide ask for a Lotus. Internationally, the cookie is called Lotus Biscoff, a contraction of 'Biscuit with coffee'. Meanwhile, the speculoos has become much more than a cookie with coffee. Creative chefs also use it as an ingredient in the kitchen, in delicious desserts such as tiramisu or speculoos mousse.
