Bedrijfsinfo

In 1932, Belgian baker Jan Boone created a caramelised biscuit made only from natural ingredients. He named it Lotus, after the flower that symbolises purity. In the 1950s, Boone began wrapping his Speculoos individually and introduced them to cafés and restaurants as “the biscuit to enjoy with your coffee”. The idea was an instant hit, because coffee and Lotus Speculoos are made for each other: each one brings out the best in the other’s flavour, and together they form the perfect duo. Over the years, the popularity of Lotus Speculoos grew enormously, far beyond Belgium’s borders. From a caffè latte to an espresso to go, coffee lovers all over the world ask for a Lotus. Internationally, the biscuit is known as Lotus Biscoff, a contraction of “biscuit with coffee”. Today, Speculoos is much more than a biscuit to go with your coffee. Creative chefs also use it as an ingredient in delicious desserts such as tiramisu and speculoos mousse.
